Patriotic Memories Storage Box Connecting with others is one of the biggest trends in both photography and memories these days. Crafters are sharing their photos and keepsakes with family and friends instead of putting them away in albums. With so many of our young men and women serving our country so far away, it's nice to have a special spot for their photos and letters/e-mails to share with others. Make this patriotic keepsake box for your own family (or a friend), as a way to show the news from and about your loved one. Display this keepsake box on the coffee table or wherever your family and friends gather so that everyone can share in the latest news, pictures and emails from afar.

MATERIALS:
1 pkg.	Wrights® USA Appliqués (#193-1756-001)
1 pkg.	Wrights® Red Star Appliqués (#193-2350-001)
7/8 yd.	Wrights® Patriotic Trim (#183-8420-001)
1	7 1/2" x 6" x 3" Blank or Wooden Papier-Mâché Box
--	Blue Acrylic Paint
1	Paint Brush
--	Regular and Decorative Scissors
1	Pen Knife
--	Glue (clear drying)
1 pc.	12" x 12" Corkboard (bulletin board type)
1 sheet	Red Card Stock
1 sheet	White Card Stock
1 sheet	Blue Card Stock
1	Print of Map in Area Where Your Service Person is Sationed (HINT: maps can be found on the Internet.)
--	Large Clear Half Marble (optional)
--	Photo Tape
4	Large Silver Thumb Tacks

INSTRUCTIONS: Paint entire box blue (inside and out); allow to dry. Measure and cut a red piece of card stock to fit into the bottom of the inside of box; glue. Measure and cut corkboard with penknife to fit in the top inside of box (see photo); glue. Glue red star appliqués onto the flat heads of the thumb tacks. Cut print of map to fit the outside top of box, glue. Glue the USA appliqués to the right side of the box top (see photo for placement). Glue photo to top of box (see photo for placement). OPTIONAL: Glue half marble over area on map where service person is stationed. Starting at the back of the box, glue patriotic trim around the bottom of the box (see photo for placement). For a clean finish, turn back 1/2" of trim end and glue over first raw edge. Mount photos (or copies) to red, white or blue card stock, leaving 1/4" border of the card stock around the photo. Cut with decorative scissors. Using the thumb tacks with the red stars, pin photos or announcements from newspapers on the corkboard and place photos, letters and emails into the box. Optional: Add some other memento of the person the box features, as a gentle reminder of them.
