4th of July Flag BannerFlag Banner

There are flags, buntings, windsocks and red white and blue patriotic decorations galore, and since the tragic events of Sept. 11, people are displaying them more than ever. This banner/wall hanging has been on our web site since that day. We've had many requests from our visitors for the Instructions to make it, so we've included them here.

This banner can be used inside your house, or outside as long as it is protected from wet weather. The ribbons are polyester and will be all right, but the felt isn't and could be a problem. However, it's the perfect display to hang on a protected door or on a wall beside the door under a porch roof.

What better way to decorate for the 4th of July than a banner such as this?

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Hot glue wooden balls to ends of dowel. Let dry.
  2. Spray paint dowel and balls with gold paint. Let dry. Give second coat. Let dry thoroughly.
  3. To connect the tassels to the ends of the cord, push, then glue ends of the cord into the hole in one side of the wooden ball (or bead) and the top of the tassel into the other side of the hole. Glue.
  4. Tie cord with tassel onto each end of dowel. Knot cord 6" from dowel to allow tassels to hang freely (see project photo). Set dowel aside.
