This is a great project to make as a gift for someone who "has everything"! It's a bookmark that is very handy for the reader (sooner or later EVERYONE reads). All you need is a pair of appliqués that can be reversed back to back and maintain their same shape, a length of ribbon, a tassel, embroidery floss and a few beads. The quick and easy directions make this the best last minute gift!

MATERIALS:
3/4 yd. Wrights® 1-1/2" White Organza Ribbon (#222-389-030)
2 Wrights® White Cross Appliques (#196-7457-030)
1 Wrights® 3-1/4" Black Beaded Tassel (#144-4016-031)
3 Decorative Black Beads (with holes large enough to thread embroidery floss through)
2 1/4" Clear Faceted Jewels
-- Misc.: White Embroidery Floss and Needle, Fabric Glue, Iron and Scissors
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Cut knot off of the tassel's strings. Glue strings onto the backside of one cross appliqué (See illustration 1). Let dry.
  2. Place appliqués wrong sides together and iron according to manufacturers instructions.
  3. Thread a 14" single strand of embroidery floss through top of cross.
  4. Pull through to make ends even.
  5. Holding both strands of floss together knot directly above cross.
  6. Thread first bead onto both strands of floss and knot. Continue this way until all three beads are on threads (see illustration 2).
  7. Fold white organza ribbon in half. Fold under a 1/4" at each end. Place tail of floss in between folded ends, after top knot, glue down.
  8. Tie another knot in floss and trim excess.
  9. Wrap ends of ribbon around each other, rolling tightly (See photo).
  10. Cut a 12" piece of floss. Thread with needle through folded end, wrap around rolled ribbon several times. Sew through and tie off.
  11. Glue jewel to center of cross on each side.
  12. Enjoy!
