INSTRUCTIONS:
- Print out the front and the back of the Piper Pattern.
- Sandwich card stock between the front and back, glue. NOTE: be sure the tops and bottoms are facing the right way.
- Following outside edges, cut all three layers of pattern.
- Using the photograph for reference, carefully cut and glue trims to the ornament as follows:
- Glue the wine gimp to his collar and cuffs.
- Cut the half pearls and glue over the circles on his sleeve cuffs. (Note: one pearl is cut in half to fit).
- Cut the gold pearls and glue over the circles on his coat.
- Cut two small pieces of the middy braid and fold 3 corners making a square. Glue over his shoe buckles.
- Make a very tiny applied bow and glue it over the ribbon on his pony tail. (An applied bow is one that is simply sewn or glued to another surface. It is not really tied in a knot around anything.)
TO MAKE AN APPLIED BOW:
Cut the satin ribbon and make two small, standing loops, one in each hand. Tie these loops in a square knot, loosely, then take the tail ends and pull them, making the loops smaller, then pull the loops, repeating these two steps (you will see the bow getting smaller as you do this), adjusting the bow down to the small size that it needs to be for the Lord's pony tail.
- Cut and glue the gold double E loop trim around the frame. Note: there are two breaks in the frame, one for his coat, the other for his shoe. Be careful not to cover his fingers!
- Tie the gold cord in a loop for the hanger.
- Enjoy!
NOTE: Use as much or as little of the trim; it's up to you. Remember, the more trimmed details, the more 3-D the figure will appear to be! |
