Wrights 7 Swans Swimming Ornament BackWell, here we are at the half way point, the 6th ornament in our series of the 12 days of Christmas - Seven Swans a swimming!

Our swan, with shimmering feathers, is swimming on a pond of blue and white iridescent rick rack, with a fluttery red bow round his neck. Make one or seven; they're still a lot of fun and easy to do!

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Print out the front and the back of the Pattern.
  2. Sandwich card stock between the front and back, glue. NOTE: be sure the tops and bottoms are facing the right way.
  3. Following outside edges, cut all three layers of pattern.
  4. Using the photograph for reference, carefully cut and glue trims to the ornament as follows:
  5. Begin with the feathers and wings on the swan. Cut pieces of the iridescent rick rack and glue over the edges of the feathers on the swan.
  6. Create the "waves" with a layer of blue jumbo rick rack, alternating with a layer of the iridescent rick rack in between. Line them up with the waves in the artwork.
  7. Glue the rainbow metallic rick rack around the border of the frame.
  8. Tie the gold cord through the hole in the top, creating the hanger.
  9. Tie a small applied bow with the red satin ribbon and glue in place at the swan's neck. Leave the ends long and glue in place to appear to be fluttering in the wind!
    TO MAKE AN APPLIED BOW:
Cut the ribbon and make two small, standing loops, one in each hand. Tie these loops in a square knot, loosely, then take the tail ends and pull them, making the loops smaller, then pull the loops, repeating these two steps (you will see the bow getting smaller as you do this), adjusting the bow down to the size that it needs to be.
  10. Enjoy!

NOTE: Use as much or as little of the trim; it's up to you. Remember, the more trimmed details, the more 3-D the figure will appear to be!
