Pattern
INSTRUCTIONS:
    To Make the Birdhouse
  1. Transfer pattern onto board of choice.
  2. Cover entire front, back, roof and 2 lower sides with double sided adhesive.
  3. Cut out pattern pieces on solid lines.
  4. Fold on the dotted lines, starting with the floor and following the numbers, gluing as you go.
  5. Partially remove the top paper of the double sided adhesive.
  6. Starting with the back corner at the very bottom, apply the bias tape one row at a time (over lapping slightly). Do several rows until you get to the peaks. When you get to the peaks of the front and back, do them separately, cutting each row.
  7. Glue a piece of tape vertically at each corner (this will cover the starting and ending positions - see photo).
Note: The side peaks are left bare as they are covered by the roof.

    For the roof:

  8. For the roof to have the layered look of shakes, cut several pieces of bias tape (in the color of choice) in 3/4" lengths. Hint: Pinking them gives a neat effect.
  9. To start, fold the roof in half on the line.
  10. For a clean finish, lay the first piece of bias tape with 1/2 on the front and 1/2 around the edge to the back. (The first row slightly overhangs the edge of the roof.)
  11. Continue to lay pieces across this row, slightly overlapping the previous one, ending the same way you started.
  12. Lay rows up to the fold at the "peak".
  13. Start the other side of the roof and work from this edge to the "peak" the same way.
  14. Glue the roof over the peak.
  15. Cut a black circle from felt for the hole and glue on.
  16. Use a very small dowel for the perch. Cut a small "x" in position and push dowel in.
  17. Add a hanger for the roof and a bird on the perch.
  18. Enjoy!
