INSTRUCTIONS:
Tassel
- String 6" of wire through the tops of all four tassels. Loop around several times, pulling them together.
- Cut four balls from the header on the ball fringe.
- Glue balls around top of tassel, close together, covering crown where tassels are tied. You now have one large tassel to hang from point in Santa's hat.
Hat
- Measure the back of the chair you will be using the cover on (ours was 18" wide).
- Cut square of felt 1" wider all around (ours is 19" wide) x 22" tall.
- Measure up 8" from bottom, mark.
- Cut a slight curve from bottom, through 8" mark, then cut to a center point at the top (refer to above photo for shape).
- Sew hat (right sides together),from bottom of one side, around top, to other side. Turn.
- Hand press out the seams (do not iron).
- Glue two rows of fur at bottom of opening, wrong side of fur to right side of hat.
- Insert top of tassel into the point at top of hat. Glue.
- Enjoy!

Santa Hat Chair Back
Christmas is the time of the year when we entertain large groups of family and friends and find ourselves needing more seating for our guests. We all have folding metal chairs hidden in a closet for just this occasion. Here is a unique way to dress up and disguise that chair - just make our festive Santa hat. All you need is the red felt (other colors for the elves), white fur, tassels and ball fringe.
