Beaded Chain Belt and BraceletBeaded Chain Belt and Bracelet

Here's a great project to make for yourself or to give as a gift (and it's so easy). All you need is Wrights' chain, a few beads, toggle closures, and the right tools.

In no time at all, you can make this "jewelry" to match every outfit and be in style for the seasons ahead! The look is so neat and made by you to fit your fashion style. The belt can be worn at or below the waist; you put it where you feel comfortable!

BELT MATERIALS:
How to Measure for Belt: Desired length of the belt from closure to closure x 3 + 1yd.
-- Wrights® 3/8" Silver Chain (#184-8436-070)
(See above for measurement instructions.)
1 Large Silver Toggle Closure (approx. 3/4")
1 pkg. Assorted Decorative Beads (Holes large enough for pin and eye heads to fit through — we used twelve 8mm Glass Beads for the Belt.)
1 pkg. Silver Pin and Eye Heads
-- Piece of Foam Core Slightly Longer than Belt Length
-- Measuring Tape, Jeweler's Needle Nose and Flat Head Pliers, and Wire Cutters

BELT INSTRUCTIONS:

Connectors:

  1. Illus. 1Thread desired beads onto EYE hook pin.
  2. Cut off excess wire with wire cutters, leaving a 3/8" piece of wire after the last bead.
  3. Make a small loop using the needle nose pliers (with the excess wire). Make sure loop is closed (see illustration 1).
  4. Make twelve connectors with 8mm glass beads.

Drops:

  1. Thread desired bead/beads onto HEAD pin and repeat step 2 and 3 from connectors.
  2. Make three drops with 8mm glass beads.

Belt:

Hint: To open and close chain links use both needle nose and flat head pliers together.

  1. Cut three lengths of chain. The first chain length being the desired length of belt. The second, one link longer. The third, two links longer.
  2. Attach the three lengths of chain to each end of toggle closure (open and close links with pliers).
  3. Pin each end of toggle to foam core to secure.
  4. Starting with one end of the first chain, measure three equal spaces, open chain links in these positions and thread connectors onto them. Close tightly with both pliers.
  5. Repeat step 4 on chain two and three.

Tassle:

  1. Remove one link from excess chain and set aside.
  2. Count eleven links and open and remove. Do three pieces.
  3. Attach all three to the single link (from step 1).
  4. Open links on each chain at random spots to attach your last three connectors.
  5. Add the beaded drops to the end of each chain. Open each link with pliers and thread on loop of drop. Close link with pliers.
  6. Open link that holds all three chains with pliers and attach to circular toggle.
You're finished! Wear and enjoy, everyone will want to know where you got your one-of-a-kind fashion accessories.

BRACELET MATERIALS:
1/2 yd. Wrights® 3/8" Silver Chain (#184-8436-070)
1 pkg. Assorted Glass Beads (holes large enough to fit onto eye hooks)
1 pkg. Silver Pin Heads and Eye Hooks
1 Large Toggle Closure
-- Measuring Tape, Needle Nose Pliers and Flat Head Jeweler's Pliers

BRACELET INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Make ten to twelve beaded connectors (See belt instructions above).
  2. Make three, 6" pieces of chain.
  3. Staring a few links in on either side, open links at different intervals and attach connectors as in step 4 of belt instructions. (Be sure to pay attention where the bead/connectors will be on each chain so they are not all in one spot).
  4. Once the connectors are in place, line up all three chains. Measure wrist and add 1/2". Adjust lengths of chains to this measurement (Hint: you may need to remove one or two links to get the chains close in length. Don't worry if they are not exact).
  5. Open each link at each end and attach to both of toggle holes.
  6. Be creative and add drops to chains if you like!
    Enjoy!
