Here are a few T-shirts and tank tops which, when we add the latest trimmings to them, look like the clothes in the Boutiques where you'd expect to pay so much more for this style.
Just add a few colored laces which you can hand-dye to match the shirt you are trying to trim. There are several dyes out in the craft areas which are perfectly good to use on all types of fabrics and laces; cotton or not!
Just follow the directions on the bottle or box of dye and make sure you get the shade you like. Then be sure to rinse it out well, let it dry, and set the color either in the dryer or with a hot iron. Then sew it around the armholes, hems and necks of your shirts. Use as many layers as you like for your own individual style (See the photo above for placement ideas). Don't sew? They can be glued on with a washable fabric glue, too.
On ours, we've used cluny laces for a more casual look and regular traditional gathered laces for the more feminine look. Pick whichever fits your own style and mood!
Not the lace type? No need to give it a thought. You can just place strips of woven bands at the hem, finished off at the bottom with a neat row of coin trim to dangle there. Experiment with the different trims and styles to achieve your very own signature style!
PANTS

One look is to take strands of various laces, tie them in several knots, and wear in your belt loops with the ends hanging down (18" or so) like a sash.
Another look is to cut several holes in both ends of a wider leather trim and add several strands of suede cording tied in these holes, with a long length left hanging free. Loop it all through a "D" or "O" ring as a closure and you've got the casual western look. This, when worn low on the hips, is a HIP way to be so COOL!
Or, take several long strands of suede cords, string them through your belt loops and again, leaving several inches hanging on the ends, tie a few knots and let it all hang loosely at your waist or lower.
