INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Transfer bakery and chimney pattern to board of choice.
  2. Cut one bakery and chimney with craft knife or scissors. Cut openings of windows. Illustration 1
  3. Remove protective paper from one side of adhesive. Cover one side of bakery and chimney with adhesive. Once the bakery and chimney are covered, do not pull protective paper from the second side of adhesive. If using double sided tape, do not overlap adhesive edges.
  4. Trim excess adhesive from all edges of bakery, window openings and chimney.
  5. Turn bakery, adhesive side up, on work surface.
  6. Peel back protective paper along bottom edge of bakery board to expose approximately 1" of adhesive.
  7. Place stone blue bias tape over adhesive, aligning the folded edge of tape with the bottom edge of bakery board. Allow the tape to extend beyond sides of bakery board approximately 1/4". This is the first row of "siding".
  8. For next row of siding, lay a second row of bias tape onto adhesive, even with and slightly overlapping the first row. Illustration 2
  9. Continue to peel back protective paper from adhesive and apply bias tape to bakery board until you have covered entire building (including windows) to the roof (see illustration 1).
  10. Cover entire roof with mocha bias tape using same technique as bakery.
  11. Turn bakery over, wrong side up, and trim all excess bias tape from bakery edges, window openings and roof lines with craft knife or scissors (see illustration 2). Turn bakery over to right side.
  12. Cut two strips of stone blue bias tape the length of the side of bakery, from roof line to foundation (approximately 6 1/2").
  13. Fold bias tape strip in half the long way and finger press.
  14. Glue folded bias tape to side edge of bakery (half on front and around to the back) to cover raw ends of bias tape and board.
  15. Cut 2 strips of mocha bias tape to the length of the sides of the roof (approximately 2 1/2").
  16. Follow steps 13 and 14 to finish edges of roof. Illustration 3
  17. Cut one strip of mocha bias tape the length of the roof top (approximately 3 1/2").
  18. Follow steps 13 and 14 to finish top of roof. Fold raw ends of tape around to back of roof and glue in place.
  19. Glue window, sign and door appliqués to front of bakery (see photo).

    Chimney

  20. Cut 2 strips of brick bias tape approximately 2" long.
  21. Lay brick bias tape over adhesive on chimney board the long way. Butt long edges together.
  22. Wrap excess bias tape around edges of chimney and glue down.
  23. Draw bricks on chimney with a fine point marker.
  24. Glue chimney to back of roof (refer to photo for placement). Illustration 5
  25. Draw lines on roof with a fine point marker to create shingles (see photo).

    Flower boxes

  26. Cut 4 pieces of brick bias tape using illustration 3 as your guide. These are your flower boxes.
  27. Glue flower boxes underneath each window (see photo).

    Awning

  28. Transfer awning pattern to board of choice and cut one.
  29. Cut three 2 1/2" pieces of brick bias tape and two 2 1/2" pieces of stone blue bias tape.
  30. Glue tape to awning board, butting edges together. Allow tape to extend beyond edge of awning (see illustration 4).
  31. Trim raw edges of tape at front of awning with pinking shears (see illustration 5).
  32. Bend cardboard to create a curved awning (see photo).
  33. Glue awning over large window (see photo).
  34. Enjoy!
Suggested end uses for the bias tape building fronts.
Option 1: For a free standing house...
Transfer easel pattern to board and cut. Score easel along dotted line and bend to make a 90° fold. Glue short end of easel to back of house.
Option 2: For a lovely mantel decoration...
Connect several house fronts together at side edges with strips of bias tape to create seams. Fold houses at seams to create a free standing village "screen". Place votive lights behind screen for added ambience.
Option 3: For a decorative chair rail accent...
Add a small block of wood (the depth of your chair rail x the length of house x 1" high) at bottom edge of houses for weight.
Option 4: A piece of framed art for the perfect wedding or anniversary gift...
Take a photograph of a favorite house or building. Enlarge photo to desired size and use as a pattern. Design house using techniques in this project sheet and your color scheme. Mount house onto a decorative board and accessorize with trees, shrubs or flowers to create a beautiful piece of art. Frame your design and personalize with an engraved plaque.
