INSTRUCTIONS:
    Flower Shop
  1. Transfer shop and chimney pattern to board of choice.
  2. Cut one shop and 2 chimneys with craft knife or scissors. Cut openings of windows.
  3. Remove protective paper from one side of adhesive. Cover one side of shop and chimneys with adhesive. Once the shop and chimneys are covered, do not pull protective paper from the second side of adhesive. If using double sided tape, do not overlap adhesive edges.
  4. Trim excess adhesive from all edges of shop, window openings and chimneys. Illustration 1
  5. Turn shop, adhesive side up, on work surface.
  6. Peel back protective paper along bottom edge of shop board to expose approximately 1" of adhesive.
  7. Place taupe bias tape over adhesive, aligning the folded edge of tape with the bottom edge of the shop board. Allow the tape to extend beyond sides of shop approximately 1/4". This is the first row of "siding".
  8. For next row of siding, lay a second row of bias tape onto adhesive, even with and slightly overlapping the first row.
  9. Continue to peel back protective paper from adhesive and apply bias tape to shop board until you have covered entire building (including windows) to the roof (see illustration 1).
  10. Cut several pieces of black mini bias tape 1/2" long. These are the roof "shingles".
  11. Lay one row of shingles along bottom edge of roof. The cut edge of shingles should overlap the clapboard of the shop (see photo).
  12. Continue to lay rows of shingles to top of roof, slightly overlapping each row, until entire roof is covered (see illustration 1). Illustration 2
  13. Turn shop over, wrong side up, and trim all excess bias tape from shop edges, window openings and roof lines with craft knife or scissors (see illustration 2). Turn house over to right side.
  14. Cut two strips of taupe bias tape the length of the side of shop, from roof line to foundation (approximately 5").
  15. Fold bias tape strip in half the long way and finger press.
  16. Glue folded bias tape to edge of house (half on front and around to the back) to cover raw ends of bias tape and board.
  17. Cut 2 strips of black mini bias tape the length of the sides of the roof (approximately 2-1/2").
  18. Follow steps 15 and 16 to finish edges of roof.
  19. Cut one strip of black mini bias tape the length of the roof top (approximately 3-1/2").
  20. Follow steps 15 and 16 to finish top of roof. Fold raw ends of tape around to back of roof and glue in place.
  21. Glue windows, sign and door appliqués to front of house (see photo).

    Chimney

  22. Cut 2 strips of brick bias tape approximately 2" long.
  23. Lay brick bias tape over adhesive on chimney the long way. Butt long edges together.
  24. Wrap excess bias tape around edges of chimney and glue down.
  25. Draw bricks on chimney with a fine point marker.
  26. Repeat steps 22 thru 25 for a total of 2 chimneys.
  27. Glue chimneys to back of roof (refer to photo for placement).

    Trim

  28. Cut a 5-1/2" piece of white single fold bias tape.
  29. Cut entire length of bias tape at folded edge with pinking shears to create sculptured trim.
  30. Glue sculptured trim to edge of roof (see photo)

    Flower boxes:
    Illustration 3

  31. Cut 3 pieces of brick bias tape using illustration 3 as your guide.
  32. Glue flower boxes underneath each window (see photo).
  33. Glue three flowers over each window box (see photo).
  34. Enjoy!

Suggested end uses for the bias tape building fronts.
Option 1: For a free standing house...
Transfer easel pattern to board and cut. Score easel along dotted line and bend to make a 90° fold. Glue short end of easel to back of house.
Option 2: For a lovely mantel decoration...
Connect several house fronts together at side edges with strips of bias tape to create seams. Fold houses at seams to create a free standing village "screen". Place votive lights behind screen for added ambience.
Option 3: For a decorative chair rail accent...
Add a small block of wood (the depth of your chair rail x the length of house x 1" high) at bottom edge of houses for weight.
Option 4: A piece of framed art for the perfect wedding or anniversary gift...
Take a photograph of a favorite house or building. Enlarge photo to desired size and use as a pattern. Design house using techniques in this project sheet and your color scheme. Mount house onto a decorative board and accessorize with trees, shrubs or flowers to create a beautiful piece of art. Frame your design and personalize with an engraved plaque.
