Bathroom Accessories-full viewCoordinated Bathroom Accessories

We've featured decorated towels before (Re-do the Bath), now we are going to show you how to make all the accessories in your bath coordinate.

All you need to do is look for a fabric that can be easily cut into strips and has individual motifs, and that can be backed with a stiffening product, then cut into individual "appliqués".

It's so easy to get a fully matched set of curtains, towels, waste basket, tissue box and tissue roll cover - even a matching decorated box and candles (which you don't burn).

Bathroom Close upCURTAINS
We've made our curtains by adding crinoline at the top (for body), hemming them all around, then adding a coordinated color of grosgrain ribbon to the top to act as "tabs".

WASTE BASKET, TOWELS AND CANDLES
We've decorated our wastebasket, towels and candles by cutting strips of our fabric, then fusing it to the crinoline with iron-on tape. (Do lots of strips, as you will find more and more things to decorate as you go). The backing will prevent the fabric from fraying. Then simply glue or sew over any item you wish to embellish. To cover the edge, we applied a gimp braid.

BOX COVER
The cover of the box is a wreath of single motifs, cut individually from the strips which have been backed. They are then glued to the surface of the box and finished with a decoupage medium.

Though we are not showing one, the shower curtain can be decorated with the single motifs, which then have a magnet glued to the reverse side and can be scattered all over the shower curtain, and held in place by putting another magnet on the inside of the curtain. You can decorate sheer fabric curtains in the same way for a whimsical look.

TISSUE ROLL COVER
It's so easy to make a cover to keep that extra roll of tissue handy. Just measure the width and height of your tissue roll, add 1" around and 1" in the height. Fuse 2 pcs. of crinoline to this measurement. Cut fabric, allowing for a 1/2" hem on the bottom and enough at the top, to gather the fabric and tie it. Fuse it all together and tie it off with a cord and two tassels. Follow our easy directions and make one for each of your baths.

Look for this project to be aired on the Carol Duvall Show!
