Screen FrameComputer Screen Frame

On our frame for the computer screen, all we did was use up some of the extra panels of fused trims we used on the cornice. You can make one too, it's easy and will add so much to the décor of a bedroom any teen would love to have!!

Banding is used as a decorative trim on edges of projects such as jeans, drapery, table runners, etc. In many cases banding is sewn or glued directly to a project. Our instructions show how to fuse several pieces of trim and ribbon to a single piece of fabric and then applying the band to a project.

MATERIALS:
84" Wrights® 5/8" Woven Band (#183-7031-001)
42" Wrights® 1" Woven Band (#184-7044-001)
84" Wrights® 5/8" Purple Single Face Satin Ribbon (#223-123-064)
2 Wrights® "L" Brackets (#183-9034-070)
1 yd. Denim Fabric
1 21" square Foam Board
-- 5/8" and 1" Fusible Tape
-- Tape or Glue
INSTRUCTIONS:
    Decorative Banding
  1. Cut a 42" x 4" strip of denim fabric.
  2. Cut two 42" pieces of purple ribbon, two 42" pieces of 5/8" woven band and one 42" piece of 1" woven band.
  3. Press fusible tape onto back of each strip of woven band and ribbon with iron (Follow directions on your product to apply). Do not iron back and forth over fusible tape, as this will make the tape crease and bunch up on band. Allow fusible tape to cool completely and then remove all protective paper from bands.
  4. Working from the center out, press the 1" woven band to the center of the denim strip (refer to project photo).
  5. Press a strip of purple ribbon on each side of the first band (refer to project photo).
  6. Press a strip of 5/8" band on each side of the purple ribbon.
  7. Fold the remaining denim fabric to the back of the fused band and fuse or glue in place. This is your decorative banding.

  9. Measure inside dimension of computer screen. Add 6" to each measurement for a 3" frame. Cut board to these dimensions.
    Example: (15" x 12" screen) + 6" = 21" x 18" frame
  10. Cut center from board leaving a 3" frame.
  11. Place fabric over front of frame to cover.
  12. Pull fabric tight and glue or tape to back side of frame.
  13. Miter four outside corners and glue to frame (see instructions to miter at bottom).
  14. Clip hole in center of frame leaving 1" extra fabric all around, and pull to wrong side and glue or tape firmly in place (see illustration 1).
  15. Cut two pieces from the decorative banding the width of the computer screen frame plus two inches.
    Example: (21" x 18" screen frame) + 2" = 23" band
  16. Glue band to top and bottom edges of screen frame (see project photo). Wrap ends around to back of screen frame and glue or tape in place.
  17. Glue "L" brackets to the top back of the screen frame. Let dry completely.
  18. Rest screen frame over computer screen.
  19. Enjoy!
