Wrights Denim Do-rag with Sugar n Spice trimDenim Do-Rag

You can make either of these hair fashion pieces worn by all the young girls to keep your hair off your face on a hot summer day, or just to make a coordinated fashion statement. All it takes is just a few straight stitches by hand or on the machine, or you can fuse and glue - whichever you are more comfortable with. Add another package of trim to the straps of a tank top or to your favorite bib overalls to coordinate your whole look!

As a bonus, we've included instructions to make the headbands too (see below)! (Click on image for larger view)

Denim Do-Rag
MATERIALS:
1 pkg. Wrights® Rick Rack
1 pkg. Wrights® Woven Band
1/3 yd. Denim Fabric (or fabric of choice)
-- Fabric Glue or Iron-on Fusible Tape
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Cut triangle from fabric approximately 15 1/2" wide x 8" high at center point.
  2. Fold over all raw edges 1/4", then again 1/4".
  3. Open up first fold and glue firmly with fabric glue (or fuse with iron-on fusible tape using the directions on the package as your guide).
  4. Starting with the rick rack package, cut two pieces 10" long; two pieces 11" long; and two pieces 12" long.
  5. Glue or sew in place in rows (see photo), starting at point and ending at the long edge. Trim away any excess. Start with the shortest piece to the longest. Hint: for a clean finish at the point, turn the ends back twice and glue. No need to finish the ends at the long edge as the woven band will cover them.
  6. Center entire piece of woven band over the long edge of fabric and glue or sew in place, covering the raw edges of the rick rack. The extra will be the ties.
  7. To finish tie ends, turn back 1/4" twice and glue.
  8. Enjoy!
Headband
MATERIALS:
1 pkg. Wrights® Rick Rack
1 pkg. Wrights® Woven Band
1 Flat Plastic Headband
-- Craft Glue
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Cover headband with woven band. Glue in place. Hint: to finish ends, turn back 1/4", press, then glue to headband.
  2. Using the rick rack, make a loopy bow by making several loops, then tying together with a short piece of rick rack.
  3. Glue over band approximately 1/3 from either end of the headband.
  4. Buy extra packages of trim to coordinate with your wardrobe. Glue or fuse onto shirts, straps, shoes, tote and book bags!
  5. Enjoy!
