Decorative Easter BagDecorative Easter Bag

Here's something to get everyone involved in the Easter Egg Hunt. This is a project that can be done ahead of time and can be enjoyed by all age groups. This decorative bag can be designed just as we've done ours, or in your own customized design!

All you need are a few extra floral and bunny appliqués, pastel ribbons, press on letters (or magic markers), some fun paper and of course the bag. You can have a bag decorating party right before or after the Egg decorating party.

These bags can be used for gift giving, to store the goodies from the Easter Bunny or, to place all the eggs found at the Easter egg hunt.

This is a perfect project to keep the kids busy on a rainy April day!

MATERIALS:
1 1/2 yds. Wrights® 5/8" Baby Pastel Dot Ribbon (#222-5661-058)
1 pkg. Wrights® Bunny Appliqué (#193-1710-001)
1 pkg. Wrights® May Flower Appliqué (#193-1155-001)
1 pkg. Wrights® Pastel Butterfly Appliqués (#193-3360-001)
1 pkg. Pastel Stick On Letters (or a Magic Marker)
1 7" x 9" Pastel Paper Bag with handles (color of your choice)
1 5" x 7" Sheet Decorative Paper
1 5" x 2" Scrap Piece of Decorative Paper for Grass
-- Scrap Pieces of Pastel Colored Paper or Foam for Eggs
-- Glue
-- Decorative Cutting Scissors
INSTRUCTIONS:

Important: Allow glue to dry thoroughly between each step.

  1. Cut pastel dot ribbon in half.
  2. Open up bag and glue ribbon around the top and bottom of the outside of the bag, approximately 1/4" from the edge.
  3. For Easter scene background, cut the outer edge of the 5" x 7" piece of paper with the decorative scissors.
  4. For "grass", using regular scissors, cut 1/4" strips down one edge of your 5" x 2" piece of paper, making sure not to cut all the way through. Glue the solid edge of this "grass" to the background paper (see photo for placement).
  5. Arrange appliqués onto background paper, using our photo as a guide, or make your own design. Glue in place.
  6. Cut two oval egg shapes out of colored paper or foam and glue into grass.
  7. Apply "Happy Easter" letters to the top left hand corner of the sheet (or write your own message, or name, with a magic marker).
  8. Glue the completed scene to the front center of your bag.
  9. Enjoy!
