Easter Chick

Kids, you can make your own basket/barnyard full of chicks for the Easter Holiday. Help Mom with the decorations by adding your own little baby chicks. FUN to make and QUICK too! Use some yarn and felt pieces and the Boye Pom Pon Maker and create a bunch!

MATERIALS:
1	Wrights^® Pom Pon Maker (#7460)
1	2" x 2" Black Stiffened Felt
30 yds.	Yellow Yarn
1	Yellow Chenille Stem
--	Fabric Glue and Adhesive Tape

INSTRUCTIONS:

Make one large pom pon using eight 2 yard strands, and one pom pon using two 2 yard strands of yarn. Follow directions for pom pons that accompany your tool.
Glue small pom pon to large pom pon (refer to project photo).
Wrap 6 loops of yarn and tape to form wing (see illustration 1). Repeat for a total of two wings.
Separate yarn strands and insert wing into large pom pon (refer to project photo for placement).
Repeat step 4 for second wing.
Create a tail in the same way you made the wings and insert at back of chick.
Cut one bill and one stand from felt using patterns at right as your guide.
Fold bill in half and glue to face of chick (refer to project photo).
Cut two 1/8" pieces of felt.
Roll felt in your fingers to form eyes. Glue to head of chick (refer to project photo).
Cut chenille stem into two 2" pieces and two 1" pieces.
Wrap 1" piece of chenille stem 1/2" from end of 2" piece to form leg and feet (see illustration 2). Repeat for a total of two legs.
Glue legs to underbelly of chick (see project photo).
Glue feet of chick to felt stand (refer to project photo).
