Here's one for the kids!!! Make a door or wall decoration from a straw hat bought in the craft store. Ours can be made in a short while with the turkey "parts" from felt and the fine feathered looking tail from short pieces of grosgrain ribbon.

Our natty turkey even wears a bow tie to match!!!

MATERIALS:
3 1/2 yds. Wrights® 1 1/2" Brown Grosgrain Ribbon (#223-149-538)
3 1/2 yds. Wrights® 1 1/2" Orange Grosgrain Ribbon (#223-149-058)
3 1/2 yds. Wrights® 1 1/2" Yellow Grosgrain Ribbon (#223-149-079)
1 16" Straw Hat
1 6" x 8" Red Stiffened Felt
1 6" x 8" Brown Stiffened Felt
1 8" x 8" Yellow Stiffened Felt
1 set Googly Eyes

-- Glue
Pattern
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Cut ten 8" yellow, eleven 8" orange and ten 8" brown pieces of grosgrain ribbon. Set remaining ribbon aside.
  2. Join ends of ribbon together and staple to form feather.
  3. Continue to make ribbon feathers until all pieces are used.
  4. Hot glue yellow feathers to rim of hat. The stapled end of each feather should be 2" from edge of rim. Leave a 3/4" space between each feather.
  5. Hot glue a row of orange feathers onto hat rim. These feathers should be aligned between the yellow feathers and down another 2" from the first row.
  6. Hot glue the final row of brown feathers to the rim of hat (see photo).
  7. Cut one 18" piece of orange ribbon. Cut one entire side of ribbon with 1/4" cuts to form ribbon fringe.
  8. Glue fringe around center of hat to hide final ends of feathers (see photo).
  9. Using pattern, cut turkey beak, feet, wings and utter from felt.
  10. Glue all felt pieces to hat (see photo for placement).
  11. Glue eyes to hat.
  12. Make a bow with remaining yellow ribbon and tie under turkey chin.
  13. Enjoy!
