Kids,
Here's another easy project you can work on. Make Pom pons with scraps of yarn in your favorite colors or your school colors. Tie them on your backpack, your school locker or trade them with your friends. Just ask Mom or Grandma for some of their leftover yarn scraps and join the fun...it's easy!

MATERIALS:
1 pkg. Boye® Pom-Pon Maker (#7460)
-- Yarn
-- Scissors
-- Optional: Plastic Yarn Needle
NOTE:
Large ring - makes 3" Pom-pon
Medium ring - makes 2" Pom-pon
Small ring - makes 1 1/2" Pom-pon
To make in-between sizes, simply interlock the large and medium or the medium and small rings, drawing yarn through center and around both rings.
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Cut 3-5 strands of yarn approximately 2 yards each, or shorter if that is too long to work with easily. Place 2 rings of the same size together, causing a ridge between the two rings (see figure 1).
  2. Fill the Pom-pon maker with yarn wrapping around plastic circles through the center (see figure 2). You may overlap yarn to achieve a more bulky Pom-pon. Do not wind too tightly - this will cause yarn to stretch.
    HINT: Yarn wraps much easier when threaded through a yarn needle.
  3. With scissors, cut in the ridge formed by the two rings (see figure 3).
  4. To secure the Pom-pon, use 1 foot of yarn (2 or more strands for added strength) wrapping snugly around center of cut yarns, and knot tightly (see figure 4). Trim any uneven yarns.
    NOTE: For multicolored effect, use two or more different colors of yarn at the same time.
  5. Enjoy!

HINT: The more yarn you wrap on the Pom-pon maker, the fuller and tighter your Pom-pon will be.
