Wrights Bias Tape Snowman FamilyBias Tape Snow Family

Kids!!!
You can make our snowman family as a centerpiece for the table or under the tree. Just cover the different size styrofoam balls with bias tape and stack them up, and you've got the people in our "snow family". You can have as many as you like. Create the members of your own family too!! What fun!!!

MATERIALS (enough for 1 snowman):
2 pkgs. Wrights® White Wide Single Fold Bias Tape (#117-202-030)
3 1/2" Black Buttons
1 4" Styrofoam Ball
1 6" Styrofoam Ball
9 Mini Black Pom Poms
-- Orange Acrylic Paint
1 3/4" Wooden Cone
-- White String
-- Common Pins
-- Hot Glue Gun
-- Accessories: Felt Hat, Scarf, Eye Glasses
INSTRUCTIONS:
    Illustration 1
  1. Hot glue small ball to large ball. Let dry completely.
  2. Remove bias tape from package. Press all bias tape open to create one long flat piece.
  3. Paint wood cone with orange paint and set aside to dry.
  4. Fold bias tape in half and then in half again. Cut ends to create four strips approximately 27" long.
  5. Find the center of one strip of tape and place it on the center of the snowman's head.
  6. Continue to lay strips of bias tape onto snowman's head until all tape is used and head is completely covered (see illustration 1).
  7. Tie string around snowman's neck and secure bias tape in place.
  8. Gently pull bias tape ends to shape bias tape around head and smooth out any wrinkles.
  9. Begin to pull strips around to bottom of snowman body and pin in place. Each strip should lay flat and overlap each other slightly. Trim excess tape.
  10. Continue to cover ball with bias tape until entire ball is covered. (Don't worry if ends are not perfect. The bottom of the snowman will be hidden later).
  11. Glue buttons to front of snowman (see project photo).
  12. Glue pom poms to head of snowman for eyes and mouth (see project photo).
  13. Glue orange cone to face for nose (see project photo).
  14. Tie scarf around neck and add glasses and hat.
  15. Enjoy!
NOTE: A scarf may be crocheted with red yarn and a Boye® size G crochet hook. We crocheted 6 stitches x 35 rows and then added fringe to each end. Scarfs can also be created with 12" pieces of plaid ribbon. Accessories like hats, baskets, scarves, carrot noses and eye glasses are available in the doll crafting section of most craft stores.

Use these instructions to make the woman and child snowman, varying the sizes of the styrofoam balls and adding different accessories.
