Rep these 8 rows 4 times more. Work Rows 1 thru 6 once more.
Hem Edge – Row 1: Purl. Beg with a P row, work in St St for 7 rows more or enough rows additional to fit around handle. Bind off.

PATTERN 2 – Tree of Life with Cable (Make 2)
Cable Pat 1 – Row 1: P 2, sl next 2 sts to a dp and hold in front, K 2, K 2 from dp, P 1, sl next 2 sts to a dp and hold in back, K 2, K 2 from dp, P 2.
Rows 2 and 4: K 2, P 4, K 1, P 4, K 2.
Row 3: P 2, K 4, P 1, K 4, P 2.
Rep these 4 rows for Cable Pat 1.
Cast on 41 sts.
Row 1: Work Row 1 of Cable Pat over 13 sts, P 6, K 3, P 6, work Row 1 of Cable Pat over 13 sts.
Row 2: Work Row 2 of Cable Pat over 13 sts, K 6, P 3, K 6, work Row 2 of Cable Pat over 13 sts.

Cable Pat 2 – Rows 1 and 3: P 2, K 6, P 1, K 1.

Row 5: P 2, sl next 3 sts to a dp and hold in back, K 3, K 3 from dp, P 1, K 1.
Rep these 6 rows for Cable Pat 2.

FINISHING: Sew squares tog as shown in photograph. Sew side and bottom seams. Fold hem around purse handle and sew. Add lining to inside of purse if desired.
