- Appliqué - Sew-On, Iron-On and Press-On
- An embellishment that incorporates embroidery and fabric. A backing is applied which can be heat sensitive for ironing, or pressure sensitive for press-on.
END USE: Used basically as a motif type trimming on any type of garment.

- Beading
- A lace or embroidery which has slits through which ribbon may be drawn.
END USE: Used as a top trim.

- Box Pleat
- A fabric, ribbon or lace pleated to form a box, bound together at the top.
END USE: Because of its unique take up, this trim can be used anywhere you would use a full ruffle. Turns corners easily. Can be inserted in seams or glued on craft projects.

- Butterfly Pleat
- A fabric or lace pleated in a series of varying widths held together with center stitching.
END USE: Double box pleated. Has same uses as the box pleat.

- Chain
- A mock metallic link chain.
END USE: Can be used as a belt or as an accent trim.

- Cluny
- A coarse crochet type lace,typically of 100% cotton.
END USE: Can be used as an edging in a seam or at a hem, sleeve, pillows, craft projects.
Can be glued or sewn.

- Combination
- More than one type of trim or ribbon combined in one item.

- Cord
- A cord can be made by twisting, knitting or braiding. A twisted cord has 2, 3 or 4 plys which can be made of different colors or fibers. Braided and knitted cords are tubular with, or without a filler. Silky cord is an example of a braided cord.
END USE: Used as a drawstring or a top "trim"; may be sewn on garments in a passementarie style, as an edging for home dec items, craft projects; may be sewn by machine or hand, or glued.

- Crystal Pleat
- A fabric or lace pressed into accordion type folds.
END USE: Often used on bridal garments, usually inserted into the seams at hem and at sleeves.

- Double Ruffle
- Two edgings which are gathered together.
END USE: Used around sleeves, necks and hems of garments and as a trim on home dec pillows and curtains. Usually applied into the seam.

- "E" Loop, Double "E" Loop
- A braided trim with loops along one or both edges.
END USE: A top trim; can be sewn or glued.

- Edging
- A lace or embroidery which has one decorative edge, and one straight (raw) edge.
END USE: Used as a decorative edge, always sewn into the seam.

- Embroidery on Sheer
- As above using a sheer base fabric.
END USE: Can be used as any ruffle or edging.

- Eyelet/Embroidery
- A fabric which has holes punched and stitching (embroidery) applied to create a design.
END USE: Can be used as any other ruffle, edging or beading as a top trim or applied into the seams.

- Fold Over Braid
- A braided or knitted band folded slightly off center used as a binding.
END USE: Used as a finish, sandwiched over a raw edge.

- Frog Closure
- A two-piece closure made of cord that is decoratively wound. One half contains a loop and the other a knot.
END USE: Used as a closure instead of buttons, or as a decorative item.

- Fur
- A knitted fabric simulating different fur types.

- A lace or embroidery which has two decorative edges.

- A second lace or embroidery that is sewn to the first to create a second decorative edge.

- Heat Transfer
- A technique used to transfer colors from paper to a variety of laces or trims.

- An openwork fabric of threads forming decorative designs.
END USE: Used in many of the above executions as a trim.

- Lizard Stitch (Double Pleat)
- A fabric or ribbon pleated along both edges to create a scale like surface.
END USE: Used in the same way as an end or top tim.

- Middy Braid
- A flat braided trim.
END USE: So called as it is used on military garments. May be swirled or scrolled in a passementerie style.

- Passementerie Trim
- Decorative trims made by knitting metallic or other fibers into scroll-like designs.
END USE: Used as a top trim on garments or home dec projects.

- Pearls
- A continuous length of fused beads.
END USE: Used as a top trim or ties on garments and craft projects. Can be glued or hand stitched.

- Fused pearls sewn to a sheer bias fabric.

- A braided cord with two defined edges.

- Quilt Binding
- Fabric or lace ruffled or box pleated with a bias-cut header of fabric.
END USE: Used to finish the raw edges of a quilted piece of fabric.

- Rick Rack
- Flat braided trims that can be plain or embroidered.
END USE: Can be used as a trim, in seams, around edges, or as a top trim on garments, crafts and home dec projects. May be sewn or glued.

- Rose Gimp
- A gimp yarn knitted into repeating rose motifs.

- A gathered edging which is held by inconspicuous netting or decorative header.

- Sequins - Single Strand, Stretch and Trimmings
- Continuous length of single stranded sequins. Sequins can be knitted into bands with elastic for Stretch Sequins and with metallic yarns for decorative Trimmings.

- Soutache
- A narrow braided trim with a center indentation.

- A strong utilitarian woven strap.

- A lace with elastic fabricated in the design.

- An imitation design of tiny circles in a row to simulate hand tatting.

- Variegated/ Space Dyed
- A technique used to create a multi-color look in a fiber before it is used to manufacture another lace or trim. Also used on cords.

- Venice Lace
- A heavily embroidered design, with no background fabric.
END USE: Used as any trim, as edgings, top trims and motif, mainly in bridal and special occasion.
